The UAE’s first-ever MS Disease Modifying Treatment (DMT) guidelines combine global best practices into a pragmatic, algorithmic approach to address the country’s unique healthcare ecosystem. Key highlights include recommendations for Radiologically Isolated Syndrome (RIS), progression independent of relapses (PIRA), and aggressive MS treatment using autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT).
The guidelines address DMT usage for pediatric onset MS, pregnancy, and breastfeeding while ensuring equitable care for UAE’s Emirati and expatriate populations. This milestone document offers practical, adaptable strategies to optimize MS care delivery across the region.
